Ceva dulce si fierbinte pentru zile reci. Niste papanasi cu dulceata de visine. De data asta i-am prajit, dar se pot face si fierti. Si, pentru o nota mai acrisoara, am pus pe fircare o lingura buna de smanatna acrisoara

Papanasi cu dulceata de visine si smantana

  • 1/4 kg branza de vaci dulce si cat mai grasa (!)
  • 1 ou
  • 100 g faina
  • 30 g zahar
  • 1/2 lingurita bicarboanat de sodiu
  • coaja de lamaie, vanilie dupa gust
  • 1 praf de sare
  • ulei pentru prajit


Mod de pregatire

Pune toate ingredientele (fara ulei) intr-un castron si amesteca bine cu o furculita pana cand se omogenizeaza (cam 2 minute). Compozitia trebuie sa aibe consistenta si sa-si pastreze forma, dar sa nu fie foarte tare. Daca e prea moale, poti sa mai pui putina faina.
Din compozitie formeaza niste bile mai mari. Pune degetul aratator in centrul unei bile si roteste-l, asfel incat sa se formeze o gaura.
Incinge uleiul (o cantitate mai mare), da flacara la mediu si prajeste papanasii pana cand devin aurii pe ambele parti.
Serveste papanasii fierbinti cu smantana si dulceata (de visine sau ce ai prin casa). Pofta buna!

English version:
This is a Romanian dish, which is served hot, in cold days.
  • 1 1/4 cup (250 g) cottage cheese (with a high fat percentage)
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup (100 g) AP flour
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon backing soda
  • lemon zest, vanilla, to taste
  • a pinch of salt
  • oil, for deep frying
  • sour cherry preserves and sour cream for serving
Mix well all ingredients (except oil) with a fork, for 2 minutes. With your hands make large balls (app. as a tennis ball). Take one and with your finger make a small hole in the middle. Repeat for all balls.
Heat a frying pan, add the oil and heat it well. Fry the balls at medium heat until brown.
Serve hot, with sour cream and sour cherry preserves (or any jam that you have).

    Does the little hole go all the way through, like a donut? We have Romanian friends here in the US and I’d love to surprise them with a dessert like this someday.

    Fantastic! I adore cottage cheese and anything with vanilla so these are perfect! With the cherries and sour cream, I am in love!
